Fall is in the air here along Hwy 30A in October. We don’t have the beautiful Autumn foliage here but the cooler temperatures are wonderful and this is a great time to be at the beach. Water temperatures are still great and the beach itself is less crowded. As our hurricane season winds down, we count this year as another good one as we had very little to no activity for yet another year. Tropical storm Karen fizzled out as it reached us and everyone is breathing easier. Real estate sales activity has been very good and 2013 is going to be a great year as we are now scrambling to find inventory to sell. New housing starts along 30A are at a 7 year high and residential lots are getting harder and harder to find. One of the most telling things about the health of our market is the high amount of spec homes that are being built in Watercolor and Watersound. Builders are building and lenders are lending and people are buying. Real estate mortgage rates are still historically low and we also have an influx of cash buyers who are skittish about the stock market and see property here on 30A as a great investment. Fall also means the Telluride Film Festival at Watercolor is coming as well as numerous wine festivals along the beach.
